Blue Horizon Detailing is Josh May. Not a brand with a team behind it — one person, based in Rugby, who has spent years learning how vehicle finishes actually behave and what it takes to keep them right.
It started the way most of these things do: with his own car, a machine polisher, and the realisation that the swirls he had spent years assuming were unavoidable were nothing of the sort. They had been put there by the way the car was being washed. That is a slightly uncomfortable thing to learn — and it is the single idea the entire business is built on. Most of what ruins paintwork is preventable. Almost nobody is told that.
Blue Horizon exists to be the alternative to the two options most owners are left with: a cheap wash that quietly damages the car, or a unit somewhere that wants your vehicle for three days. Everything is mobile. We arrive with our own water and equipment, the vehicle stays exactly where it lives, and the person who quoted the job is the person who does it.
Josh works on a small number of vehicles at a time, on purpose. Correction and coating work does not respond well to being hurried, and a diary packed too tightly is how corners start getting cut. Fewer vehicles, each given the hours it genuinely needs, is a deliberate trade — it limits how much work can be taken on, and it is the reason the results hold up.
The standard does not move with the badge on the bonnet. A Rolls-Royce, a Bentley, an Aston Martin, a G-Class, a much-loved classic and a ten-year-old family hatchback all get assessed the same way, prepared the same way, and finished to the same level. The scope of the work changes. The care does not.
Every vehicle is treated the way Josh treats his own — which mostly means being honest. If paint does not need correcting, we say so. If a coating would be going on over defects that ought to be removed first, we say that too, even when it makes the quote smaller. Nobody has ever regretted being told the truth about their car.
